ULI JON ROTH

Düsseldorf (Germany) – 1.954

In 1978, after 4 albums and the live classic “Tokyo Tapes”, Uli John Roth, guitarist, composer and guitarist of the Scorpions, left the band to start his own band, Electric Sun. Although in his current live performances he still includes classics from his repertoire of his time with the Scorpions.

He has written several symphonies and classical concertos, which is why he is rightly considered a precursor of the relevant crossovers between classical music and rock.

As a tribute to “Tokyo Tapes” – the Scorpions‘ first live album from 1978 and still one of the most important live albums in rock history – Uli Jon Roth released “Scorpions Revisited” in 2015, an album with new recordings from that double live album.

In 2016 he released the live DVD “Tokyo Tapes Revisited”, recorded in the same Tokyo venue – Sun Plaza Hall – where the legendary Scorpions live album had been performed 40 years earlier.

Uli Jon Roth continues proving himself at his concerts as the exceptional guitarist that he is. Today he is considered one of the most important rock guitarists in the world and other great guitarrists such as Slash, Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen and Kirk Hammett cite him as a decisive role model.

Joe Satriani invited Uli Jon Roth to join his ‘G3 Tour’ in 2018, which featured Joe Satriani and Uli Jon Roth on stage alongside Dream Theater guitarist John Petrucci.
