THE CHERRY BOPPERS MEET PATRICIA RECKLESS
Bilbao, 2004
The collaboration between the talented singer and the seasoned black instrumental band gives birth to fresh soul-funk tunes and delivers a powerful live performance: dance, sweat, and groove.
The Cherry Boppers were formed in 2004 in Bilbao, with a clear objective from the start: to enjoy sharing the incredible black rhythms of past decades—such as the depth of jazz, the elegance of soul, and the sweaty dance grooves of funk, among others. Over the years, their discography has expanded to include multiple LPs, several 7” records, DVDs, and nearly 300 concerts, with performances in Spain, France, Germany, Scotland, and the Netherlands. Highlights include opening for Sly and the Family Stone at the San Sebastián Jazz Festival, performing at the Imagina Funk Festival alongside The New Mastersounds, the Edinburgh Jazz-Blues Festival, appearing on the Buenafuente show, collaborating with Radio3, and working with the BBC on their first joint project. They’ve also played in Ibiza, Paradiso Club in Amsterdam, and Munich’s Olympiapark, among other iconic venues.
Patricia Reckless is a vocalist from Bilbao who spent 8 years as part of the duo Bohemian Soul. A passionate fan of soul, R&B, and funk from a young age, Patricia was drawn to black music and dedicated herself to studying the rich voices of deep soul artists. Influenced by legends such as Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Amy Winehouse, Sharon Jones, James Brown, The Temptations, and Ray Charles, she channels her inspirations to express the music within her on stage.
