With a Macedonian father and Andalusian mother, Maika was successful from an early age in the music world, receiving her first award at the age of just fifteen and further awards in 2002 before releasing her first album.
Makovski started writing songs at the age of 12 and performing at 14. Between 2005 and 2016 she released 7 albums, a highlight being the 2009 album ‘Maika Makovski’ produced by John Parish (producer of PJ Harvey, Eels and Tracy Chapman) and featuring Jim Barr (Portishead) and Billy Fuller (Robert Plant).
In 2012 she released her fifth album ‘Thank You for the Boots’, which received a Max Award for best musical composition (2014).
In 2013 she made the music for the documentary ‘Romea 150 years’ and collaborated in the writing and musical direction of the production ‘Leonce und Lena. Dunkle Nacht der Seele’ at Munich’s Residenz Theatre.
This year, in 2020, Maika is working on what will be her 8th album, which will feature in her setlist at BBK Music Legends Festival.
